Currently serving as the Superintendent, Jason Messer became the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services for Manteca Unified in 2003. Prior to being the Assistant Superintendent, Mr. Messer was the Director of Elementary Instruction for the District. Jason Messer started as an elementary teacher with Lincoln Unified in Stockton. His first teaching assignment was sixth grade. After three years at the elementary level, Jason was promoted to High School Dean. In 1998 Mr. Messer was promoted to Elementary School Principal. Jason lives in Stockton with his wife, Kristen, who is a Kindergarten teacher for Manteca Unified, and his two daughters. Jason enjoys spending time with his family and friends camping in Northern California. He is an avid collector and enjoys displaying his collection of pens and old postcards. Mr. Messer is also on the Give Every Child A Chance Board and serves as the Executive Director of the Manteca Unified Student Trust (MUST).
As the Superintendent, I work hard to focus the entire staff on the service aspects of our jobs. It is important to all of us in Manteca Unified that we strive to provide exceptional service to all stakeholders.
We continue to support the following short term goals: 1) Improving communication both inside the District and with the community. 2) Celebrating student and staff success. 3) Continue supporting a focus on improving student achievement. 4) Transitioning schools off of Year Round Education to our new Modified Traditional calendar. 5) Addressing the current California state budget crisis in a proactive manner.
The Educational Services staff make thousands of visits to our school sites each year. We work to address all community and staff questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner. Educational Services staff is charged with leading the District in the selection of, and implementation of, educational programs and curricula which is State-approved and Standards-aligned. The department is made up of Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Compensatory Education, Special Education, Health Services, School Readiness, Intervention Programs, Child Welfare and Attendance, and Student Data Systems.
